The Wild Atlantic Way – The Rosses

IMG_1387

The Atlantic Ocean skirts around the village where I live.

I live in the Rosses area of County Donegal in North West Ireland.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty – of long sandy beaches, lakes that attract the fishing fraternity, peat bogs filled with wild flowers and a number of beautiful islands.

The Wild Atlantic Way

The Wild Atlantic Way  www.wildatlanticway.com is a tourism initiative that promotes the entire West coast of Ireland from Malin Head at the most Northern tip of Donegal, to The Head of Kinsale in County Cork.  It has helped increase visitor numbers to The Rosses, boosting our fragile economy.

Carrickfin Beach

Carrickfin beach located a mere two miles from my home, is one of thirteen Blue Flag beaches in our county. I love to walk here – weather permitting!

There are also LOTS of secret coves where I can sit in solitude to Stop The World!

Errigal Mountain

Errigal Mountain near the village of Dunlewey is a popular mecca for climbers and can be seen from my home.

Donegal is home to many creative people – artists, poets, writers, musicians, actors….

I am very proud to call it my home too!
