Simple Pleasures Feed Contentment

http---www.pixteller.com-pdata-t-l-443531Simple Pleasures Feed Contentment was my Thought for Today four times last week!  It was great to get lots of lovely feedback from fellow bloggers, so I felt compelled to write another post on this theme.

I have also linked this as my first post for  Bernadette at Haddon Musings new challenge “52 Weeks of Thankfulness” https://haddonmusings.com/2016/07/05/52-weeks-of-thankfulness-2/

and will now post every week on this theme.

I do not know if it is an age thing or a result of living though more than my share of LIFE’s ups and downs, but I do not relate Abundance to financial Wealth.  I feel wealthy from the little pleasures in life – a good cup of coffee, eating ice cream SLOWLY, taking a leisurely walk, a line of fresh clean washing hanging on the line, chilling out with friends and family….

The weather here in Ireland has deteriorated greatly since last month’s heatwave and torrential downpours have been ever present.  I would normally be gardening but not in this weather!

Instead, I have spent more time with friends and family, including a fun chat with my two sisters who were on a mini break near Dublin.  We laughed together by telephone, as they sipped on Irish coffees watching the Irish Sea and I looked out my window on a wet June afternoon.

Last week I also enjoyed a mini video festival, re – watching old movies including “Eat, Pray, Love.” Age has its advantages as I often forget film plots despite having watched a movie four or five times before!

I finally read Elizabeth Gilberts new book “Big Magic” which brought a number of light bulb moments on creativity.  I would highly recommend reading it.

Right now, I am at one of life’s crossroads and I lack financial security but I know that everything will work out perfectly.

No it is not an age thing, it is a wise thing. I too love the little things in life. If we cant enjoy the little things then …. well I enjoy the little things, without that what is life.

    Great post

    1. I already did back in 1996 after my dad died. It was a great project to help heal my grief but I was working as a therapist, buying books, crystals tapes, aromatherapy oils… dealing with other therapists who rented rooms and creating lots of lovely classes and weekend courses with lovely teachers.
I was exhausted after 3 years and that’s when I moved to Ireland for a simpler life!
I loved many aspects of it but it was 24/7 commitment.
