52 Weeks of Thankfulness – Week 15

“Hold a true friend with both your hands.”

Nigerian Proverb

I took time out last week to share in the 60th birthday celebrations of a dear friend of 43 years, who hosted a terrific party, filled with great company, good food, music and laughter.

I met a number of people that I had not seen in a very long time and we shared memories of our student days.  Among other things, I was reminded of the cool denim dungarees I wore to classes, bought from the precious wages I received working as a kitchen maid for the summer months.

Although I left university after just one year, I continued my education via another route. Several people at the party, told me:

“You did the right thing.”

I am thankful that I followed my heart all those years ago.  The road has been tough on many occasions but the scenery has been amazing!
