52 Weeks of Thankfulness Week 19

I come from a very big Irish family.  My mother was one of eleven children as was my father.  Both are long since dead – my mother aged just 42 and my father aged 69.

Several of my aunts and uncles have died very suddenly in a relatively short space of time.

This week one of my uncles passed away after a battle with cancer, the same illness that took my father.

Our families gathered together yesterday to celebrate his life with prayers, beautiful music and heartfelt speeches amidst great sadness.

My mothers family is now reduced to just two and my fathers to one.

I am thankful this week for the love of my family and friends for each and every second of this good life is indeed very precious.

  1. I’m sorry for the loss of your Uncle, Brigid. Wow imagine down to 2 and 1. You are right every second is so precious and we just don’t know when it will be our last one. So glad to be able to spend some of them reading your inspirations!! xo
