A Wish for 2017

img_5871

Every New Years Eve, I set my intentions for the coming year. Some people call it “Vision Mapping” but I have always called it creating a “Wish Collage”.

I have been doing this for more than twenty years now and the results continue to amaze me…

My 2016 Wish Collage

My 2016 Wish Collage

You can see that I use both words and pictures, to invite the qualities I wish to embrace for the year ahead.

My 2016 key words included new directions, lightworker, self belief, find balance and an income, getting creative again, world traveller, centre yourself, natural beauty.

I have an angel holding my hand to guide me on my journey, a box of healthy fruit and vegetables, some seaside images, flowers, dancing ladies, a woman praying and last but not least a book cover.

It has been an incredibly exciting year with lots of growth and new beginnings, including:

  • Taking a blogging course and starting a blog,
  • Leaving my old job teaching Organic Horticulture in schools,
  • Self publishing my book,
  • Linking with LOTS of new friends through my blog,
  • Linking with LOTS of new and old friends through social media…

I have prayed a lot as always, and I know my guardian angels have helped me all along the way.

I danced wildly at a Bryan Adams concert in May, a wedding in August, a good friends 60th birthday party in September…

I had a beautiful holiday by the seaside in August, which exceeded all expectations, and I have also spent a good number of days by the beach in Donegal – in all weathers!

Preparations for my 2017 Wish Collage

My 2017 Wish Collage

I will share my wish collage for 2017, created on New Years Eve.

I gathered :

  • A number of magazines,
  • Scissors,
  • Glue,
  • A sheet of thick paper,
  • A stained glass angel,
  • A pale blue candle.

I lit my candle, setting an intention for a year of both creativity and gentleness; I entered into meditative mode.

Leafing through my magazines I cut out the pictures which inspired me most, together with words which resonated with my spirit.

My 2017 images and words

Once I was happy with the results, they were glued onto my sheet of paper, trimmed and placed in a frame.

My 2017 wish collage

My keywords for 2017 are spread the joy, enjoy the journey, ideas, events inspiring heart, mind and soul, shine on, healing inspiration and books to soothe the soul.

My images include an open doorway surrounded by flowers, a plate of healthy food, more flowers and a lady enjoying a relaxing massage!

In both collages, I have left space around each image to allow for unexpected blessings.

I wonder how 2017 will unfold?

  2. Hi Brigid
    Good to read this blog.

I don’t think the collage is something
I would have thought off but it may be for my
future when I can let my creative side blossom.
Last year was very special for me in many
ways and one I’ll cherish the memory of.
Glad you were able to celebrate with me

We had a new year celebration in Rothesay and are now home.
Back to work Wednesday but this is my last Christmas with work looming

    Hope you are well Brigid

We have a family reunion tomorrow — big event. Paul has organised this as he may be settled in Canada this time next year. Will miss him however he will travel back to see us from time to time.

It’s really Icy here but fresh and crisp

Hope Ann Marie and Lawrence are well too
    Take care
    Love and hugs

I was particularly drawn to the guardian angel holding your hand, and the dancing women – I am dancing with you into 2017, my blogger friend! May all your heartfelt dreams be blessed by the Spirit. 🙂 Big smiles and hugs — Debbie HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  4. I love this! I have a ‘dream’ board that I made and use as my wallpaper on my laptop. It’s inspiring to see our wishes and dreams in front of us. Yours is beautiful.

ps…I bet someone..somewhere just cut out that gorgeous David Beckham and pasted that and that to make their wish collage! 😉 😉

  6. Your process is just the same as I use! Except I haven’t done one of these for a long time. It is a good way to focus and set intentions and a wonderful visual reminder to focus on through the year. May your 2017 be fulfilled and glorious:)

  9. Do you know, I used to do a discovery journal cutting out pictures and quotes that inspired me and for some reason I stopped. I tend to do my cutting and glueing for making cards these days, but your post has got me thinking that I ought to start doing that again. I wish you all the best in achieving your goals for 2017. 💜
