I share LOTS of self healing tools in my memoir “Watching the Daisies”
This is one of my favourites:
I ALWAYS begin my day with a colour visualisation; I have done so for many years and I find it helps me stay centred through the good times and the not so good.
I begin by closing my eyes and sitting or lying with my spine straight.
I make sure I will not be disturbed by other people, pets, telephones….
I focus on my breathe and take note of how my body is feeling.
Once I feel settled and quiet, I begin to visualise a beautiful, coloured, healing light above my head or crown chakra – the first colour that pops into my mind is the one that is right for me on that particular day. (Sometimes I need more than one colour)
I imagine the light moving through every cell in my head, my neck, my shoulders, arms, hands, my back and spine, my abdomen, my legs and feet before it travels on into Mother Earth.
I imagine the energy of Mother Earth travelling up to meet the light in my body, mixing with it, then travelling outwards to fill a giant egg shape around me (my aura).
Finally, I note how I feel before I gently open my eyes, reflect on what transpired, and slowly and gently face a new day.
Each colour has a significance for healing:
- Red brings courage,
- Orange lifts my spirits if I am feeling low,
- Yellow sharpens the mind when I am called to write or do brain work,
- Green brings me balance if I cannot get out into Nature,
- Blue aids communication and creativity,
- Purple brings serenity if I am feeling overwhelmed,
- White light contains all the colours of the rainbow and is a great multi tasker,
- Silver acts like a mirror to aid self awareness,
- Gold brings compassionate wisdom, something to aspire to!
Wishing you all many happy days filled with the joy of colour.

This is something that I would definitely love to try. Thank you for sharing the simple healing strength of colour visualization 🙂

Thank you. I tend to find that the simplest techniques are often the best. I have witnessed and learned some complicated healing modalities but in the end I prefer simple.

I’m going to try this tomorrow morning, I’ll be curious to see what color I see! Thank you for sharing this. I listen to guided meditations when I go to bed at night and sometimes chakra clearings. I have a book about chakras but I haven’t read very much…I’m on vacation this week so maybe I’ll be able to spend more time with it! xo

Thank you. So I did this and the first I saw black so after I did all of the steps I asked to see another color and I saw white. I thought, how very interesting. I also thought of Yin and Yang…My mind and my body really enjoyed the exercise. 🙂 xo

I thought so too…what does black mean…hope it’s not bad.

Black is often used as a protective energy when your energies are low – a kind of safety blanket. Teenagers often resort to black clothes when they need to escape into themselves.

I had a good friend who was color blind and the flowers he loved the most were the Japanese Lanterns of autumn. Although he couldn’t see the bright orange and greens, he loved the shape. I really appreciate being surrounded by color and a brightness would go from my life if it were not there. And it’s free!

I used to teach classes in colour. In one exercise we closed our eyes and felt silk scarves in different hues and could still sense the colours through our fingers. I cannot imagine a life without colour. 😊

Hey Brigid, Question are you rescheduling as opposed to reblog, repost ? Just asking as sometime when I reblog or repost – readers don’t get as far as the original post.
Anyway, I was nice to re-read this and be reminded of this the colours and their impact. Great photos as well.
Blogging is great, but our post get lost so quickly as we create a new post, and I think it really worth while reposting . It is like when I re-read a book I love or chapter I love when I need reminding.
