In the spring of 2007 and the summer of 2008, I was incredibly blessed to work in the gardens of Glenveagh Castle. The gardens and castle are part of Glenveagh National Park, the second largest national park in Ireland. On both occasions I felt I was in horticultural heaven!
Last September, I shared my experiences of a visit in The Gardens of Glenveagh Castle I returned recently and my favourite area – The Walled Garden was looking awesome:
I noticed the Delphiniums had some new friends – a red Lychnis chalcedonica:
A shady corner had been replanted with yellow Day Lilies, New Zealand Tree Ferns, Hosta and Ferns:
A forecast of showers discouraged many visitors:
I admired The Rose Garden, where The Roses smiled back sweetly:
Sadly, rain began to fall as I looked out over The Pleasure Grounds:
It continued on and off as I watched Irish World Music band Kila in concert. However, the crowds stayed away, and I had a terrific view of the band!
Brigid P. Gallagher is a retired natural medicines therapist, passionate organic gardener and author of “Watching the Daisies- Life lessons on the Importance of Slow,” a holistic memoir dedicated to the art of mindfulness and healing from debilitating illness.
What beauty! Just stunning. And being me, I would rather walk in the rain alone than in sunshine hemmed in by crowds 😊

It’s all sparkly in my world apart from the Wi-Fi (don’t ask) …. gardens and nature provide the necessary balm for my over anxious moments 🙂

Wonderful. My Wi- Fi is iffy too. A sign to check out for 2 weeks holiday 😉

I moved into my new temp place a week ago and had a battle royal with the suppliers, moved back Chez Orange from whence I’d come and hey presto bongo I am, this minute all set up. Now to tackle the telephone so I can ring my mum who doesn’t do internet and I shall be calm and positively all smiles. Post will follow in the coming days about my new residence but meanwhile I wish you a restful and restorative break 😍

Lovely garden. It looks huge with different plants, flowers. I have some Daylilies with different colors. I like them. Oh, sorry for the rain. I hope you didn’t get wet!

The rain came in light showers later and it kept a lot of visitors away. It was great to see the gardens in the quiet. Daylilies are a delight.

Oh, some people don’t like to get wet! Yes, it makes the garden quiet.

I am glad you have been here. It is getting a bit more publicity and visitors with the Wild Atlantic Way. Everything is still pretty unspoilt though. 😊

Sometimes it’s rather lovely t o go in the rain isn’t it? Then you get a different experience plus there are hardly any other visitors! I loved the way you put in turning pictures in your post….I haven’t worked out how to do that yet!
Thank you Brigid for linking this lovely post to #MyGloriousGardens this month. Xx
