The Gardens of Glenveagh Castle#2

In the spring of 2007 and the summer of 2008, I was incredibly blessed to work in the gardens of Glenveagh Castle. The gardens and castle are part of Glenveagh National Park, the second largest national park in Ireland. On both occasions I felt I was in horticultural heaven!

Last September, I shared my experiences of a visit in The Gardens of Glenveagh Castle  I returned recently and my favourite area – The Walled Garden was looking awesome:

I noticed the Delphiniums had some new friends – a red Lychnis chalcedonica:

 

A shady corner had been replanted with yellow Day Lilies, New Zealand Tree Ferns, Hosta and Ferns:

 

A forecast of showers discouraged many visitors:

 

I admired The Rose Garden, where The Roses smiled back sweetly:

 

Sadly, rain began to fall as I looked out over The Pleasure Grounds:

It continued on and off as I watched Irish World Music band Kila in concert. However, the crowds stayed away, and I had a terrific view of the band!

  16. Sometimes it’s rather lovely t o go in the rain isn’t it? Then you get a different experience plus there are hardly any other visitors! I loved the way you put in turning pictures in your post….I haven’t worked out how to do that yet!
