5 Awesome Marketing Sites for Authors

All Author 30 Jan.If you are a new author, exploring book marketing sites, can become quite overwhelming.

I did not pay for any marketing for my memoir “Watching the Daisies,” (apart from a couple of short, unsuccessful campaigns which cost not a lot, but put me off paid marketing) for a total of eighteen months.

Meanwhile, I was able to build up book reviews, and form a solid foundation on both my blog and social media links.

I am forever thankful for all the support I received on my journey.

My previous post 20 Marketing Tips for New Authors includes my tried and tested FREE marketing tools for new authors.

Paid Book Marketing Sites

In May 2018, I dipped my toe back into the paid marketing waters once again.

Sticking to a modest monthly budget, I have spread my marketing campaign evenly over each month.

I have continued to build on my learning experiences, and sales and reviews are increasing nicely.

However, I always keep a record of ROI ( Return on Investment) for each Ad.

The following book marketing sites have produced the best ROI:

Fussy Librarian

Fussy Librarian https://thefussylibrarian.com ask for a minimum number of reviews and ratings before they will accept your book for promotion.

I have had consistently good results, and use them on a regular basis.

My Book Cave

Book Cave https://mybookcave.com “generally like to see 10-20 reviews,” before accepting advertising submissions. This site has also produced good sales results for “Watching the Daisies.”

All Author

All Author https://allauthor.com allows authors to create a profile on their site for FREE.

However, if you become a paid member there are lots of additional tools available to help you market your book(s).

These include:

  • A Gif maker,
  • Tweet scheduler,
  • Promotional banners,
  • Author interviews…

I particularly love their weekly e-mail enclosing a new Mockup Banner, which I have put to good use on this blog and on social media.

Here are a few examples:

Book Gorilla

Book Gorilla https://bookgorilla.com is a little more expensive, but I have found the ROI to be excellent.

BookBub

I am one of many authors who dream of being accepted for a BookBub Deal, and becoming a bestseller!

However,  https://bookbub.com also market BookBub Ads which are more budget friendly.

I have already posted on my first test ads, which you can read HERE

Creating Custom Ads

I recently discovered BookBrush https://bookbrush.com an online tool for creating custom images.

I am using their FREE version, which gives me the opportunity to create 3 images per month. It is very user friendly.

These are my first Book Brush babies:

BookBrush Test Results

The results I have noted using these Ads on BookBub is very interesting.

Although, the wording is the same on all three, the first Ad with the book on the left, and the one with the blue tab had an almost equal percentage of clicks per thousand views.

However, when I looked at my results in more detail, I found the following:

  • Amazon US customers preferred the book on the left,
  • Amazon UK customers liked the blue tab Ad best,
  • Amazon CA customers loved the Ad with the bus shelter,
  • Barnes and Noble and Apple customers preferred the blue tab Ad.

I shall put this information to good use for future marketing campaigns.

Personal Experience

Please note, that I have not received any payment for mentioning any of these book promotion sites. My post is purely based on my own personal experience.

Do you have any book marketing sites that you find helpful?

Please share.

  3. Thank you, Brigid, for another useful and helpful blog. I know it’s hard to get a consistent ROI from paid advertising but paying to promote one’s book seems to becoming necessary.
