Carrickfin Beach with Arranmore Island in the distance

Carrickfin Beach
Carrickfin Beach beckoned me as calm, sunny weather made a very welcome reappearance after Storm Callum.
The beach is rarely busy, despite its obvious beauty:
The sky remained reflected on the tide, as I neared the North end of the beach:
I walked past rocks and rock pools:
And sat in silence, simply watching the waves ebb and flow:
It soothed my Soul and reminded me that we do not have to travel far from home to relax and recharge our batteries.

Wow, Brigid, the sky is so clear and the water so calm. Your photos are gorgeous. You’re right, we don’t have to go too far for a vacation. Our beaches are not too far away but they’re a lot busier. 🙂

Brigid, with scenery and landscape like this on your doorstep I wouldn’t wander far either! 😀 The blue of the sky and sea is enthralling, I feel soothed by your glorious photos, calm and peace emanating from them. I hope you were safe during Storm Callum … Ireland and the west coast has taken a battering. Welcome back from your staycation!

Beautiful capture of the sky and sea, Brigid. I live in the mountains and sometimes I have to remind myself that I live in a vacation-meaning I get to see every day what others travel here to see. You are so right. We don’t have to go far from home to relax and recharge because beauty is everywhere.

how enchanting! I have always wanted to come to Ireland, the home of my favourite poet and roam the places he has been and see the beauty of that land. I watched the series Outlander and surprise surprise most of the amazing scenery was filmed in Ireland not Scotland!

Hi Brigid
Thanks for showing pics of beautiful Donegal. I have never visited this area of Donegal. My cousin recently posted copies of Donegal Democrat and Fermanagh Herald. Quite refreshing to keep up with the news and to see faces and places that I knew. Article on Aranmore island in Donegal Democrat .

REminded me of the old days Brigid when mum received newspapers from her uncle who died in 1959. My aunt wasn’t able to keep it up.
My cousin Patricia is the middle child of three girls and lives in Dublin .The homestead in Ballyshannon was left to her by her paternal grandmother as Patricia was her favourite. Pity that other sisters not speaking to her as a result of her grandmother’s actions. Patricia usually posts these papers on her trips up to Donegal.
