Irish Library Supplies and Alan Hanna’s Bookshop

Last June, I approached Donegal Central Library, to ask if my memoir “Watching the Daisies” could be stocked in local libraries. They were incredibly helpful and advised me to have my book registered with Alan Hanna’s Bookshop, which is run by Irish Library Supplies.

Positive Results

Almost a year later, I have contacted all the county libraries in Ireland, and orders have steadily increased…

A Delightful Visit

I had the opportunity to visit Hanna’s Bookshop on a recent trip to Dublin, and delighted in browsing a HUGE selection of  literary delights…

Although they specialize in Irish Literature and History, the shop has a dedicated children’s area, complete with Peter Rabbit and Ladybirds:

I studied the latest Memoirs, Travel books, Gardening books…

And enjoyed a lovely lunch in their cafe, amidst posters of a few classics:

It was a real treat to visit such a lovely independent bookstore, and I shall return…

  1. What a wonderful shop …. as you might guess, a good independent bookshop is one of my absolute delights. I must say, you have done a fantastic job of marketing your book thus far … that is no mean feat that you have achieved with the libraries and must have taken a good deal of diligent hard work. I am delighted that you are reaping the rewards with steady sales. Richly deserved tis! 😊

  2. Seems like this shop knows how to lure in the customers. From what I can see, great book selection, a comfy chair or too, lots of colors/plush toys for the children to enjoy, and without any further hesitation, let me mention the sweet treats. I didn’t see any, but you mentioned them a number of times in the comments, so I salivated from there!

      • Oh yum! Both the goat cheese and beetroot sound divine. I can only imagine how following one tasty treat with another made your day. I’ve just put my visualization skills on high alert. Yep! A perfect way to pass a few hours indeed. 🙂

    • Thank you. Hanna’s supply books to libraries throughout Ireland. I had to contact all the county librarians and then they give their orders to Hanna’s. It took a lot of time and effort but it is paying off. 😊

  3. how wonderful to read this beautiful post Brigid! It must feel so surreal to see your own book up on a bookshelf of a local library. How amazingly wonderful for you and I am rejoicing reading this. For your hard work to put it together and also promote it effectively. It looks like a lovely place to stop and read and have a coffee. Wishing you even more beautiful moments like these, when your book can be found as you browse a bookshop or library, unexpectedly see your name long a book spine. congratulations dear Brigid!

  5. I love, love, love bookstores. They are filled with stories which bring your imagination to life. Once you get engrossed in a book time means nothing. The world goes on around you and yet you …. are inside the book and living what you’re reading.

Books are such magical little ‘tomes’ of wonderment, filled with inspiration and knowledge. Magnificent, enchanting, fascinating, spellbinding, … and all the other wonderful words which describe what happens between the pages of a book.

Your book being available in Libraries is just incredible, Daisies. Well done on all your hard work, not letting yourself ‘drop the ball’ …. and very well done for keeping your positivity up, up, up! Congratulations my lovely friend on getting the result!
Love you oodles ~ Cobs. xxx
