A winter view across my back garden
I had another JOY filled afternoon last week, weeding and pottering in my garden. Thankfully, the mild autumn and winter weather has ensured I am well ahead of my usual gardening schedule.
I have gravel paths between my flower beds, with a strong barrier underneath, yet some determined weeds still manage to seed through the stones, and the gentle winter has allowed many of them to keep on growing…
I focused on weeding, as I surveyed the early spring growth.

A pot of daffodils by my back door is sprinting

Miniature daffodils are already in flower

Bellis Perennis is still quite perky
Grasses and Christmas Roses provide a contrast to colourful Primulas
Wallflowers are unfolding, in assorted hues
Pink Pulmonaria will soon be joined by dear friends – yellow Daffodils and blue Muscari
In a couple of hours the weeds were gone, and I had completed a good, general tidy up. I spent quite some time admiring my progress…
A red breasted friend followed me around as I unearthed some tasty morsels, before serenading me with a song or two…
I felt quite uplifted, as I headed back indoors to imbibe a welcome hot chocolate.
A Robin friend serenades my tidy up

So many things blooming already!! Love the small daffodils!! We visited England (close enough!) a few times the years we lived in Spain and I remember one year in April there were swaths of daffodils everywhere. Happy gardening Brigid!! xox

Interesting to see the daffodils. So far we have none in our garden in Leicestershire. I guess it must be milder where you are

Yes I am near the Atlantic and we rarely get frost. It has been extra mild this winter.

Thanks Wendy. It is a small garden but I have made it look bigger as all paths are on a diagonal. I saw a post on http://www.robertapimentel.com about moving to self hosting. She is moving at the moment. It might help you decide. Have a lovely week.😊

Oh thanks Brigid.. We only have a small garden too (thank goodness.. as I’d never manage a bigger one!).
Thanks for the tip – I’ll pop across to Roberta’s site and take a look! Much appreciated xx

[…] Oh and maybe look out on the garden and notice the ‘little things’, contemplate the world passing by for a moment…….. and then before you finish.. notice that you’d really better make a start on some garden ‘tidy up’, unless you are much more ‘on top’ of the garden like Brigid from Watching The Daisies… https://watchingthedaisies.com/2017/01/26/52-weeks-of-thankfulness-week-31/ […]
